Discover how often to shave your legs, underarms, and bikini line. Plus, the best shaving products for longer-lasting results.

How often you shave depends on your skin type and how quickly your hair grows. On average, body hair grows about 0.3-0.4mm per day. Ahead, we share general guidelines for shaving frequency.

How Often Should You Shave? General Guidelines

  • Face: Every 2–3 days for a consistently smooth look. Daily shaving is fine but may irritate sensitive skin.
  • Legs: Shave every 2–3 days to keep your skin feeling silky smooth, or every 3–5 days for upkeep.
  • Underarms: Every other day to avoid razor burn.
  • Bikini area: Every 2–3 days to prevent razor bumps.
  • Sensitive skin: Limit shaving to once weekly to help prevent razor burn, bumps, and ingrown hairs.

Unless your body hair grows very quickly and your skin handles it well, shaving every day is usually unnecessary.

How Often Should You Shave Your Face?

To maintain a clean-shaven look, aim to shave every two to three days. Remember, razors don’t just remove hair, they also take off a layer of skin cells every time you run the blade across your skin. That’s why shaving every day is too harsh on the skin—and should be avoided to prevent dryness and irritation. Give your skin a chance to heal on those in between days.

How Often Should You Shave Your Legs?

Leg hair grows about half an inch to one inch per month. If you’d like to achieve a completely hairless look, shave every two to three days. To simply style or trim, shave every two to three days. And if you’re a busy babe who doesn’t mind a little prickle, simply shave whenever you feel like it.

You can even stop shaving and let your hair grow if you feel like giving your razor an extra long vacay. How often you shave is a completely personal choice.

How Often Should You Shave Your Underarms?

Armpit hair grows up to 0.27mm a day and reaches a maximum length of three inches in just a couple of months. Once a hair strand has reached its maximum length, it will fall out. The follicle will then develop a new hair and the growth begins again.

To maintain smooth underarms, we recommend shaving every other day. You can also skip a few days if you don’t mind a little stubble. Or you can leave your armpit hair to grow. When it comes to how often to shave anywhere on your body, it’s entirely up to you and your comfort.

How Often Should You Shave Your Bikini Line?

Pubic hair grows back at a rate of approximately 1 cm per month. While some women shave every day to keep their bikini area smooth, we do not recommend it. Shaving every day can lead to ingrown hairs. It’s best to give your skin a chance to recover and heal between shaving days.

To keep the area smooth, aim to shave every two to three days. To style or trim, shave once a week. Or just let your hair grow! Your hair, your choice. Read our guide on how to shave your bikini line for best results.

How Often is Too Often to Shave?

While you can shave every day, we don’t recommend it—especially if you have sensitive skin or you’re prone to ingrowns. Shaving doesn’t just cut the hair. It removes a layer of skin. It’s basically a form of exfoliation, and too much of it can dry out and irritate your skin.

For that reason, it is best to avoid shaving every day. You can still maintain smooth, hairless skin by shaving at least every other day. And this way, you won’t end up with painful bumps.
